Immigrant support group 'Make the Road Connecticut' holds protest in Bridgeport

In Bridgeport, members of the immigrant support group "Make the Road Connecticut" organized a protest before a City Council hearing Monday night.

They support making Bridgeport a sanctuary city.

Organizers say it's important for Bridgeport's Muslim community to know they have support.

"We are supporting the immigrant and refugee communities, and we are doing what we can locally to make sure our residents are protected, that they feel like they can trust the city and that, in fact, means we are fighting very hard that Bridgeport is a sanctuary city," says Julio Lopez Varona.
