Stamford students rally to support undocumented immigrants

Students gathers at the Stamford Government Center Friday to protest the federal government's treatment of undocumented immigrants.

Organizers say they are against the sweeping deportation raids that have been conducted nationwide.

They say the rally was also to stand in solidarity with undocumented students.

Stamford's Mayor David Martin spoke at the protest, saying anyone is welcome in the city as long as they want to make an honest living. He says the police department will not act as immigration agents.

The rally's organizer, Michael Hernandez, says the fear of a parent being deported distracts from education.

"You should be worried about your psychology test tomorrow, not whether when you come home are my parents going to be there or not," says Hernandez.
