Attempted murder charge added for robbery suspect

A Stamford man being held on armed robbery and arson charges has now been accused of attempted murder, police say.

Police say Tyriek Gantt, 19, shot at another 19-year-old on Jan. 19 on High Street.

Then he stalked the victim inside a convenience store and shot him twice -- once in the head and once in the stomach.

Police say the victim has survived and is going through extensive physical therapy.

Gantt had already been accused of carjacking two Norwalk food delivery drivers and setting one of their cars on fire.

A judge set Gantt's bond at $1 million. Police say they plan to arrest an accomplice in the case.

"Gantt thought he was like Teflon," says Lt. Tom Barcello, of the Stamford Police Department. "And now his world's come crashing down upon him."
