Fund looks to help Bridgeport woman with stage 4 cancer

A local nonprofit is seeking the public's help aiding a Bridgeport woman battling a rare, aggressive bone cancer and difficult odds.

Ileana Caren says she was diagnosed with cancer last year, when she was 20 weeks pregnant with her son, who was born prematurely. She and her husband Joe Costantini say they've been going through the most painful experience of their lives.

Costantini says he quit his job to care for their two young children and go to chemotherapy appointments with his wife -- five times a week.

Neighbors say Caren is a beloved member of the community, so supporters set up a GoFundMe page.

Karen Green, who works for a local nonprofit group that specializes in helping the parents of premature babies, set up the fund to help the couple live and pay for medical treatments not covered by insurance.
