Weston crews restore power after fierce winds topple trees

Crews in Weston spent the day cleaning up and restoring power after strong winds knocked down trees and power lines.

Eversource Energy reported 2,500 customers affected at the height of the outage Thursday morning. That number was down to about 100 around 5 p.m.

The downed trees closed multiple streets during the day. Students in Weston were advised to stay indoors during the day as a precautionary measure.

"There was a high wind warning out with the weather reports, we were anticipating it here at the town level and emergency services," says Town Emergency Management Director Joe Miceli.

Miceli says Weston was able to avoid significant property damage as well.
