Report: Connecticut Department of Transportation employees used government paid fuel cards to fill own gas tanks
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is under fire for leaving itself open to fraud after state auditors released a report this week showing hundreds of examples where workers used government paid fuel cards to fill their own gas tanks.
The audit covers 2011 and 2012 and focuses on 68 DOT fueling stations across the state.
Other problems uncovered include missing items in DOT inventories, inconsistent records on where employee family members worked, and a failure to prevent collusion among contract bidders.
