Friday was opening day at Harbor Yard for the Bridgeport Bluefish, marking their 20th season.

The ballpark at Harbor Yard has seen some low numbers in recent years, but general manager Paul Herrmann says attendance has started to pick up again. He's confident the momentum will continue with this being the 20th anniversary.

The team has brought in guest general managers, including former New York Yankees player Paul O'Neil. But this year, Herrmann says they're planning to keep the guest general managers local.

Terry O'Connor from the Cardinal Sheehan Center in Bridgeport will guest manage one game.

There will also be a 20th anniversary Legends Game, which will set up former Bluefish and MLB greats against one other.

All of these combined, he says, should bring the fans in.

"Especially being a 20th year anniversary, especially with a legends game, I think it's going to help increase it as well," says Herrmann

Pregame activities included a special 20-year anniversary ceremony to recognize all the teams throughout the years.

Herrmann says the team has started off 4-3 in their first road trip and that the team is now concentrated on winning an Atlantic League Championship.

The game started at 4:05 p.m. against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
