Killingly 7th-grader dies after suffering medical emergency at softball game
A 7th-grade-girl at Killingly Intermediate School has died after suffering a medical emergency during a Little League softball game.
According to Killingly schools superintendent Lynne Pierson, the girl was playing in a game at Roseland Park in Woodstock Tuesday when the medical emergency occurred.
The girl was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Pierson says she doesn't know the nature of the medical emergency. State police have declined to comment, saying they don't release information about children.
The town's Little League also has declined to comment on the girl's death. It's helping to raise money for her funeral on its Facebook page.
Pierson says counseling was made available to students at several schools on Wednesday.
The Associated Press wire services helped contribute to this report.
