Some Bridgeport parents simmered with anger Thursday after their children spent a full day in school without air conditioning.
Students at Waltersville School said they were told Thursday morning that the air conditioning system was broken. One boy said it was 87 degrees in his classroom, making it hard to concentrate.
The school includes students from pre-K through eighth grade.
Parents said they didn't know anything about the school's conditions until they picked up their kids in the afternoon.
"They should have given these kids a half-day, because it's too hot," said Mary Ann Johnson.
The school told News 12 Connecticut that the air conditioning was being fixed but couldn't confirm when it would be fully operational. The superintendent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Parents said they hoped repairs would be made by Friday, when temperatures were expected to be in the 80s again.
