NORWALK -

A flag placement ceremony was held at several cemeteries across Norwalk Saturday.

Volunteers placed flags on the graves of more than 5,000 veterans in eight cemeteries.

Families of veterans, elected officials and religious leaders gathered for the numerous ceremonies.

Organizers say the flag placement has been happening for the past 28 years.

They say it is their way of honoring people for their service to our country.
