STRATFORD -

Laura Hoydick, a state lawmaker from the 120th House District, announced her plans to seek Stratford’s Republican nomination for mayor this fall.

Dozens turned out to support Hoydick in a ceremony at Academy Hill Saturday morning.

Hoydick says she's been proudly serving her hometown in Hartford for the past seven years.

Republican Mayor John Harkins announced in March he will not be seeking a third term.

Town Democrats say their party could hold a primary in September to select a candidate for mayor.
