The headmaster of Fairfield Ludlowe High School says a senior prank went very wrong and students will pay the price.
Headmaster Greg Hatsis says watermelons were smashed in the bathrooms and maple syrup was dripping down the stairwells inside the school Monday.
He says the school's custodians deserve better.
Hatsis says he has canceled two upcoming senior events: the senior picnic and the senior yearbook signing party. He also wants the students responsible to come forward. If they do, Hatsis says the events could go on as planned.
Some students who spoke with News 12 say there is a cellphone video of the incident that could reveal the culprits.
The headmaster says the police are not involved as of now. He says before it turned into vandalism, the original senior prank was more about placing decorated watermelons all around the school.
