Volunteers transform home of ex-officer battling rare disease

A former Milford police officer who was diagnosed with a rare disease received a home makeover thanks to a team of volunteers.
More than 40 volunteers from the nonprofit House of Heroes Connecticut spent Saturday making the home of former Milford Police Officer Collin Walsh more safe and accessible.
Walsh was a track star in high school and college. He attended law school, joined the Milford Police Department, then later accepted his dream assignment with the U.S. State Department.
Two days into that training he began to lose feeling in one of his legs.
Walsh was paralyzed a year ago due to a rare, aggressive form of multiple sclerosis.
He is currently in India getting treatment and returns to the U.S. on June 13. Walsh told News 12 via a live video feed that the group of volunteers are true heroes and he is grateful for the work they do.
