The Connecticut House has approved a bill to expand off-track betting.
The bill was crafted to garner support for Native American tribes to open a third casino near Hartford.
It now heads to the Senate and if approved, could kill a competing proposal to allow a private casino near Bridgeport.
Connecticut currently has two casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
Proponents hope to build the third casino in East Windsor to compete with a new MGM Resorts casino in Massachusetts.
