The family of 28-year-old Jason Nieves met at Luz de Paz Funeral Home in Bridgeport Friday, making final arrangements for their lost loved one.
The grief-stricken family turned to each other for strength after what they describe as “the sudden and mysterious loss of a devoted son, father and brother."
Nieves was found shot to death in a burning car Wednesday night at the corner of Houston and Dodd avenues.
Police say what exactly what happened leading up to Nieves’s death is still unclear.
“He was known everywhere, and wherever he went he was loved, says Dulce Nieves, Jason’s grandmother. “And that was the one thing I remember about him. They say that when you love you love hard - that was Jason.”
Nieves’ family has set up a memorial fund for Jason’s 7-year-old daughter.
