New Canaan father charged in underage drinking party has case postponed
UPDATE 5/22/2018: The charges against Andrew Knight have been dismissed after successful completion of a court approved educational program. The court ordered erasure of any and all records pertaining to the defendant’s arrest.
The lawyer for the father of a New Canaan teen charged in an underage drinking party where a teen was seriously hurt says the case has been postponed until July 13.
The first court date for Douglas Knight was also pushed back.
Knight is charged with interfering with a 911 call at a party back in March, and his son, Andrew, is charged with providing alcohol to minors at the party.
According to phone records and witness statements, Andrew called his parents to tell them what happened, but Douglas ordered him not to call 911.
Police say the victim was unconscious and bleeding for more than 30 minutes before 911 was called.
The teen has since recovered.
Andrew’s arraignment was also postponed.
