Funeral service held for Bridgeport man killed in car crash
A funeral service was held Wednesday in Bridgeport for a man killed in a car crash on the Merritt Parkway.
The service for 21-year-old Carlos Salgado took place at the Community Chapel Funeral Home on Park Avenue.
According to police, Salgado somehow lost control of his car on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway and crashed into a tree.
Salgado's sister, Sheily Nieves, said no words could possibly describe the full scope of her family's grief.
"I'm actually heartbroken because he's my baby brother," she said. "I don't want him to be gone. I would love him to be here but I know he's in a better place looking down on us."
Salgado worked as a security guard at O.F. Mossberg & Sons in North Haven, where co-workers said he was a beloved member of their extended family.
Other loved ones said Salgado was thrilled to get married in a few months, and they had never seen him happier.
The family has set up a fund to help pay for funeral expenses.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
