Accused parking garage bandit appears in court

A Stamford man appeared in court Thursday after he allegedly threatened a woman with a gun while she was trying to change her baby's diaper in a parking garage.
The 29-year-old woman told police the man whispered in her ear, demanding money, a week ago at 78 Harvard Ave. When she turned around, police say, the suspect was aiming a gun at her head.
"He was in there looking for somebody to rob," says Sgt. Paul Guzda, of the Stamford Police Department.
Police say the suspect, 28-year-old Marquise Douglas, grabbed her purse and fled. They arrested him Wednesday after they say they tracked transactions made on the stolen credit cards.
The woman had a friend's child in her back seat. She and the two children are OK.
Police say Douglas had broken into another car in the same parking garage last month. He was charged with that crime as well.
