Teacher accused of sexual assault submits letter of resignation

A Bridgeport special education teacher charged in the sexual assault of a student has submitted her letter of resignation.
In a statement, the district superintendent says although Laura Ramos, 31, of Milford, submitted her resignation to Central High School, termination proceedings were already initiated.
Ramos was placed on administrative leave by the district on June 9.
According to police, Ramos had an ongoing sexual relationship with a student that began back in December.
Court records obtained by News 12 show that Ramos said the relationship with her alleged victim "started with flirting and progressed into sexual intercourse," that she had the alleged victim listing in her phone as "Bro" and that she began bringing him "homemade sandwiches and fruit from her home." Records also state a witness told detectives that Ramos asked him "to buy, find and roll marijuana for her."
She is due back in court June 28.
