BRIDGEPORT -

Bridgeport police are asking for the public's help identifying a woman who stole money from a senior citizen at a bank last month.

Surveillance video shows the woman pickpocketing cash from a 70-year-old woman's purse at the People's United Bank.

Hera Powell says she went to bank to withdraw $1,000 to pay her bills at 12:30 p.m. on May 8.

Powell says the woman acted friendly and early in the video she appears to assist the victim approach the teller.

But after Powell withdrew the money, the woman appears to snatch it out of her bag on the surveillance video.

Powell's relatives have set up a fundraiser to help replace some of the money, which was supposed to go toward paying her rent.
