Police in Norwalk are cracking down on boaters drinking out on the water with the 4th of July holiday quickly approaching.
The crackdown is part of the national Operation Dry Water campaign.
Police will be looking for impaired boaters behind the wheel over the holiday weekend.
According to police, alcohol affects boaters' judgment even more than car drivers due to the sun, heat, wind and noise.
Police say people under the influence are putting other people out on the water in danger as well.
Police are also advising people who plan to drink on the water to have designated drivers once they return to shore.
