An Easton emergency medical technician is facing weapons and explosives charges and being accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer, according to authorities.

Chris Barlow, 20, is also a student at Sacred Heart University. He was arrested in his hometown of Duxbury, Massachusetts, following a raid on his parents' house and his vehicle.

Barlow has been suspended from Easton Volunteer Medical Services in light of the arrest. An EMT there says the news shocked colleagues.

Barlow was part of a live-in program, which allows Sacred Heart students who have an EMT license to live in the EMS building. He had a reputation as a good EMT with an outstanding record of patient care.

But now, Barlow is the focus of an investigation spanning several agencies, including Easton police and Connecticut state police.

Investigators say that prior to the raid, a family member gave police a gun Barlow had purportedly built. He allegedly went to the police station to get it back and presented a fake Homeland Security ID to detectives.

Authorities say they seized several illegal, loaded firearms and parts to make explosives in his room. He also allegedly had a collection of fake law enforcement credentials.

Barlow was arraigned Tuesday and held without bond.
