A Bridgeport family thanked News 12 Connecticut and fundraising contributors Sunday for helping them raise enough money to buy a wheelchair-accessible van for their disabled son.
The vehicle was delivered this week to the parents of four-year-old AJ Corsino, who suffers from Leigh syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that leaves patients unable to move or talk.
News 12 shared the Corsino family’s story back in February, noting their need for a van to take AJ to his doctor appointments. Since then, donations poured in from News 12 Connecticut viewers.
The Needs Clearing House also helped the family to purchase the van at cost.
“It's been a blessing, the best experience,” said Anthony Corsino, AJ’s father. “The most humbling experience that we ever could have had.”
Corsino said the van makes such a difference and is a dream come true.
