A tribute was held in Milford Sunday in light of Independence Day weekend to honor those who fought in the Vietnam War.
The ceremony was held at the Vietnam Memorial on the Milford Green and was dedicated to American prisoners of war and those missing in action.
Al Beck of Milford says he was just 19-years-old when he was sent to Vietnam.
“So many of my brothers and sisters never made it home,” he said. “So it makes me feel proud when my country recognizes what we've done and what our fellow vets have done for this country.”
Beck tells News 12 that it is important to remember the meaning of July 4.
“Freedom is never free,” he said.
