Norwalk Health Department cites 19 city pools with violations
The Norwalk Health Department has cited more than a dozen pools in the city with violations.
Health officials say a number of pools inspected did not have the right mix of chemicals.
Officials report 19 pools in Norwalk were in violation when they were inspected last month. Most were cited for unsafe chlorine and pH levels, with a few in serious violation.
Doctors say over-chlorinated water can irritate the skin, eyes and lungs.
The Health Department reports the pool at Ledgebrook Condos had no lifeguard on duty, and one pool tested didn't have any chlorine, but that pool was just getting set up for the season.
To pass inspection, pools also need to have "no diving" signs and an emergency phone on hand.
Health officials say any pools found to have a bacteria problem will be closed right away.
