Fairfield woman charged in baby’s death rejects plea deal

Posted: Updated:
BRIDGEPORT -

A former Fairfield day care owner charged with killing a 4-month-old boy rejected a plea deal Friday morning after authorities say the baby died from an overdose of Benadryl.

The attorney for Carol Cardillo said in court the terms of the plea deal were unacceptable.

If Cardillo had taken the deal, News 12 Connecticut is told she would have received a 15-year suspended sentence after serving five years.

According to authorities, Cardillo was charged after giving 4-month-old Adam Seagull, of Shelton, a toxic level of Benadryl back in March 2016.

Police say her home was not properly licensed as a day care center.

Cardillo and her attorney had no comment as they left the courthouse.

Several of Adam's family members were in the courtroom this morning. They also had no comment.
