'National Night Out' held to improve police-community relations

Norwalk police joined other police departments around the country Tuesday night as part of National Night Out.
The annual event aims to build relationships between police officers and the community by having some fun.
The event featured giveaways, food and even a bounce house.
"It helps everybody. We solve more crime. We prevent more crime," says Norwalk Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik. "People are more comfortable dealing with us, and that makes our job easier."
Norwalk police say Tuesday was the first time the event was held near the police department and that they were pleasantly surprised by the turnout.
