BRIDGEPORT -

Bridgeport Animal Control broke ground on its new dog play area project Thursday.

The project will consist of three large play areas allowing the dogs to exercise and have social play off leash.

"Dogs are social creatures and when we have that kind of information about who they are as dogs, how they are going to fit in a home, especially with other animals and what their energy levels are, when it comes time for them to be adopted for whatever family shows up we have the perfect match ready for them," says Jennifer Wallace, of Bridgeport Animal Control.

All the money needed to complete the project was community funded.
