NORWALK -

At least eight people were displaced after flames tore through their home in Norwalk Saturday.

The incident happened on the corner of Fair Street and Tindal Avenue.

Fire officials say when they got to the scene, they found heavy smoke pouring from the second floor window. They say they got two people out of the basement safely.

Deputy Fire Chief Ed Prescott say they moved fast to search through the fire because they were told people were stuck upstairs.

Utility companies had to turn off power to the house to avoid additional problems.
