Police: 1 dead, 1 injured in Stratford shooting during birthday party

STRATFORD -

Police say a woman was killed and a man was injured early Sunday when they were shot during a birthday celebration in Stratford.

They say the incident happened just after 12 a.m. in front of a home located at 1854 North Ave.

According to authorities, the 24-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were shot while at a 50th birthday party. They say the couple was arguing outside the house when they were hit.

Officials say the woman was pronounced dead a nearby hospital. They say the man remains in critical condition.

"Right now we don't have a weapon, but we're working to identify who the shooter was and we'll go from there," says Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti.

Investigators have not released the identity of the victims.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
