Remains ID’d as missing CT seaman from USS McCain crash
Navy and Marine Corps divers have identified the remains of the missing seaman from Connecticut in the search for those missing aboard the USS John S. McCain.
Divers recovered the remains of Electronics Technician 3rd Class Dustin Doyon, 26, and another sailor from New Jersey late last night.
The US Navy suspended its search-and-rescue operations at sea.
Additional crews arrived overnight to continue searching inside the ship's flooded compartments for eight others who are still missing.
His family released a statement this morning, in part, saying, "Dustin was a wonderful son, big brother, and sailor. He truly loved his family, the Navy, and his shipmates. We are incredibly proud of him and his service to our country. We will miss him immensely and we are so very thankful for the 26 wonderful years we had together."
