The family of an innocent bystander who police say was fatally shot in Bridgeport spoke publicly for the first time Friday about their loss.
Cadell Moore, 34, lived in the house on the corner of Connecticut Avenue, about a block away from where he was gunned down while working on his car.
According to Moore's family, he was a loving dad who worked hard and was devoted to his family.
As News 12 Connecticut reported, Moore was working on his car Thursday morning shortly before 11 a.m. when he was struck by a bullet.
Investigators say that bullet was not meant for him.
The victim’s sister, Paris, says she is heartbroken after losing her best friend.
“He loved dirt bikes, and that's one of the things people really know him for, and just his kind heartedness,” says Paris. “He just overall loved everybody.”
News 12 Connecticut has learned investigators are now reviewing surveillance video, which is said to have caught the crime in progress. They say they plan to make an arrest soon.
“It's such a random, violent act that tears at the fiber of our community,” said Chief AJ Perez. “We’re not going to allow this to happen here in Bridgeport.”
Officials tell News 12 this incident marks the city's 19th homicide of the year.
Police are asking for the public’s help in solving the case.
