FAIRFIELD -

Local organizations in western Connecticut are doing their part this weekend to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

Save the Children sent their emergency team from Fairfield to San Antonio.

The team, along with volunteers, will be working to create children-friendly spaces in the evacuation centers.

The organization says during this time it is important that the needs of children and families are addressed. It says at least 1 million children will be affected by Hurricane Harvey.
