Annual Caribbean Jerk Festival is held in Bridgeport
The West Indian American Association of Greater Bridgeport held its 11th Annual Caribbean Jerk Festival Saturday.
The event was held at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The festival featured reggae music, dance performances and food.
Vendors also sold everything from clothing to candles.
Organizers say the festival is a way for them to celebrate their culture.
"Our primary object is to provide scholarships to college bound students, but we're also very proud of our West Indy culture and so it’s important to us to share our music to share our food and just everything about our culture with the wider community," says WIAACG Public Relations Chair Carolyn Vermont.
This is the first year the festival has been held at Harbor Yard.
