Residents collect Texas flood relief supplies
Residents and local businesses in Bridgeport and Stratford kicked off an effort Friday to collect supplies for flood victims in Texas.
Nilcia Soriano and her husband own the trucking company Soba Express and started the Bridgeport Unites to Help Texas effort to make a difference while doing what they know best.
“The only thing we know how to do is move stuff all over the place,” says Soriano. “So I told him, let's call some friends, see if they can help us set it up, and maybe we can fill a trailer and send it out to Texas.”
She says they’re hoping to fill an entire truck with materials that will be transported directly to Texas next week.
News 12 Connecticut met a group of people participating in the effort on Main Street in Stratford who were dropping off essential items like bottled water, clothes and diapers.
The final effort at filling the truck before its send off will be at El Flamboyan Restaurant on East Main Street in Bridgeport this Tuesday between 4 and 8 p.m.
