2 hospitalized after fire breaks out at Fairfield home

Two people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at a home in Fairfield early Saturday morning.
The blaze broke out at the home on Old Post Road.
Fire officials say a 10-year-old child was trapped on the second floor of the home and managed to jump out of a window to escape.
Due to the home's older style, officials say the fire traveled through the walls from the first floor and up to the attic. News 12 is told the home was built in 1816.
"They were self-evacuating when our people got there," says Fairfield Fire Chief Kyran Dunn. "They confirmed everybody was out, nobody missing. Everybody is accounted for and they went to the hospital to be checked out."
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Officials say the 10-year-old boy and the other person injured are expected to be OK.
Neighbors say the family that was living in the house was renting it and had recently moved in. They are being relocated to temporary housing, News 12 is told.
