Cheddar morning business update 9/11: Tesla gives boost to Floridians affected by Irma

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Tesla gave a boost to its customers in Florida fleeing Hurricane Irma. The carmaker issued an over-the-air update to its cars in the sunshine state, giving them an extra 30 to 40 miles above the typical range of the vehicle, making it easier for drivers to go the distance and flee the state ahead of the storm.

Apple will reportedly show off a mysteriously titled iPhone X at its big product launch on Tuesday. The device will come with better lighting for its camera and "Animoji," which are animated versions of popular emojis. A Face ID feature is also expected to replace the Touch ID, meaning users will be able to unlock their phones using facial recognition.

The thriller "It" based on Stephen King's novel broke records at the box office for its opening weekend, bringing in $179.2 million. That is the most ever for a film debuting in September and also the largest ever for a horror film.
