Police: Teen dies after being pulled from Fairfield pond

A family is mourning after Farfield police say a teen drowned in a pond where swimming is off limits.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Saturday at Perry's Mill Pond, where first responders rushed to the scene to try and save a 17-year-old that slipped below the pond's surface and didn’t resurface.
Police say a diver from the Fairfield Police Department found the teen submerged in 15 feet of water. He was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where efforts to save him were not successful.
Swimming at the pond is prohibited, but police say signs there are often ignored.
Investigators say the reason why the teen drowned is unknown and is under investigation.
The teen’s identity has not been released.
