Puerto Rico without power as Maria heads for Turks and Caicos, Bahamas

Posted: Updated:
PUERTO RICO -

The entire island of Puerto Rico is without power after Hurricane Maria knocked out an already weakened electrical grid.

In the area of Fajardo there is flooding, damaged boats, and uprooted and downed trees.

San Juan's Marin International Airport is expected to open today since shutting down earlier this week, but the airport will have limited services and no air conditioning.

The airport was flooded and damaged during the storm.

American Airlines says it will partially resume flights to the island, delivering supplies and workers.

President Trump says FEMA and emergency responders are helping both Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands recover.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Maria is approaching the Turks and Caicos Islands and the southeastern Bahamas.

Maria remains a Category 3 hurricane.
