Man accused of defrauding Superstorm Sandy victims arrested in Oregon

WESTPORT -

A man accused of defrauding victims of Superstorm Sandy was back in Connecticut after being arrested on the west coast.

According to Westport police, John Mech had been on the run since 2013.

Mech is accused of offering to sell and install generators during Sandy cleanup.

The customers never received those generators.

Mech was taken into custody last week in Oregon after an illegal fishing violation.
