A Bridgeport man injured in a hit-and-run collision is pledging to walk again.

Relatives say Ian Griffin, 31, was riding along Stratford Avenue on Thursday morning when a trailer hitch hit him and broke his leg.

He says he doesn't remember what the car looked like, let alone the license plate number.

His family is hoping surveillance cameras in the area will help police identify the car and driver.

"The doctors are doing everything they can to save his leg," says Sue Yanez, Griffin's mother-in-law. "He has two open wounds. They're talking about a skin graft, and he may need two more surgeries. Ian's got a long road ahead of him."

Doctors told Yanez it could be a year before Griffin is able to walk again.

Yanez has been taking care of Griffin's two children, 10-year-old Cody and 4-year-old Moriah.

Griffin has no health insurance and until recently was homeless and unemployed.
