Lawmakers may overturn Gov. Dannel Malloy's veto of a budget that would put small businesses at risk of losing funding through the state Small Business Express program and Manufacturing Assistance Act grants.
The state says both programs have created 15,000 jobs.
"We've got a program that we created that's paying for itself and employing people," says state Sen. Ed Gomes, a Bridgeport Democrat.
The Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises warehouse says it hired 100 people over the past few years with help from the state programs. Workers there recycle old mattresses.
