Gov. Dannel Malloy and Charter Communications, Inc. have announced the company’s plans to build a 500,000-square-foot, 15-story headquarters in Stamford.
The new headquarters would be at 406 Washington Ave. on top of a parking garage, connected to the Stamford train station.
Charter is currently based at 400 Atlantic St.
The company has been growing rapidly ever since it opened five years ago.
"This is the community that they want to be in, and they had to make certain that they had an attractive deal from the state and they had to make certain they had the property because they are growing rapidly," Mayor David Martin said
To complete this project Charter has received a $10 million loan from the state.
The company will hire 100 employees on top of the 1,000 already hired since opening.
The new employees are expected to begin working by early 2019.
