Police in Bridgeport say they have arrested a juvenile in a series of drive-by paintball attacks that blinded one victim and left several others with massive welts.
The attacks began in front of Mambo Grocery Store, on the corner of Ogden Street and Noble Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Victor Cacho, 41, says he went through the most terrifying experience of his life when a car full of teens drove by out front. One then fired an automatic paintball gun directly at him, he says.
Police say the paintballs were frozen, which made them much more painful.
Police Chief AJ Perez says the suspects then attacked another victim, who was struck down the street from the grocery.
He says the man was blinded in one eye and underwent surgery Thursday at Bridgeport Hospital in an effort to save the sight in his other eye.
Officials say as many as eight people were struck in multiple attacks over an hourlong period across the East Side.
Surveillance video obtained exclusively by News 12 Connecticut shows the attack taking place.
Cacho says the bullets may not have been real but that the pain and terror they caused were.
Police say they cannot release the name of the suspect because he is underage.
