Norwalk utility repairs take hours after storm

Intermittent heavy rains and gusty winds swept across western Connecticut Tuesday, knocking out power in some places.
Crews responded to Park Street in Norwalk after a massive tree fell over, cracking a utility pole in half. The entire block was left without power.
Firefighters also responded to Park Towers condos, which has over 60 housing units, because some residents in wheelchairs couldn't use the elevators. There were no reported injuries, but eight hours after a utility pole collapsed recruits were still making repairs.
"I heard this crackling sound, and I saw some sparks on the pole, and it was down," says Sharyn Silberman, a local resident. "And immediately the Norwalk Fire Department were on the scene."
In Bridgeport, officials said they hadn't received many reports of serious damage, but they worried things could worsen in the evening.
