This Veterans Day weekend, a New Canaan man is pleading for the Pentagon to resume the search for his father, whose plane went down 75 years ago during World War II.

Doug Walker has collected stacks of research on his father, Brigadier Gen. Kenneth Walker -- but he says he wants to finally bring back his father's remains.

The elder Walker was one of the original architects of the Pacific air campaign during the war. His plane went down over the island of New Britain in 1943.

The younger Walker has spent the past three decades doing research and hiring experts to try and pinpoint the wreckage. Now he's asking the Pentagon to send a search crew back to the island to bring home the general, a decorated war hero.

"The crew and my father -- the remains of what they can bring back and identify -- would be buried at Arlington in an appropriate ceremony," he says.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal unveiled a resolution Friday with senators in both parties asking the Defense Department to reopen the case.
