Water main break causes damage at busy Bridgeport intersection

A broken 24-inch water main caused major damage at one of Bridgeport's busiest intersections Monday.
The break happened at the intersection of Park and North avenues around 6 p.m.
The water spilled out onto a number of streets, forcing drivers to make turns as others tried to get their vehicles out of harm's way.
It also flooded a number of homes.
Officials said Monday night that residents who live along North Avenue between Lexington and Brooklyn avenues were impacted.
They said other area residents should have seen either low water pressure or full water pressure.
Residents were advised to add extra time to their Tuesday morning commutes, as officials said the area where the break occurred would be shut down "for at least a day."
