A Brooklyn man faced a judge Wednesday after Milford police say he illegally had a handgun gun and a World War II-era hand grenade in his car.
Police stopped 27-year-old Angel Figueroa for several alleged traffic violations in the parking lot of Patriot Fuels on Boston Post Road in Milford. Then they say they found a handgun in his car. Due to two protective orders against him, he cannot legally possess a gun.
He tried to flee, according to police, but they arrested him.
Investigators say state police arrived and determined the grenade was no longer active.
Figueroa is due back in court Dec. 13.
