Holiday event combines local brews, ugly sweaters, yoga
Long Islanders began the holiday season on Dec. 2 with a special event that combined yoga, funky Christmas sweaters and beer, and it was all for a good cause.
Beer Fit Club held its second annual Ugly Sweater Beer Yoga Fundraiser at the Great South Bay Brewery in Bay Shore. The company travels to breweries all over the region offering the boozy yoga classes.
Participants decked out in ugly Christmas sweaters took to their yoga mats with a beer in hand.
The event raised $2,200 last year and this year organizers hoped to top that. Some money raised will benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Long Island.
The COO of Beer Fit Club, Kelsey LaPort, lost her father to the disease three years ago, and the money raised will be donated in LaPort's father's name.
