VFW 5157 bouncing back after burglaries

A battered VFW post is bouncing back after two burglaries left the post short a few thousand dollars and a valuable ticket machine.

The Watertown VFW post 5157 held a ziti dinner and fundraiser to begin its recovery from a double-burglary back in October.

Flyers for the event read “Vets don’t let thieves win,” and businesses in the area donated food and prizes for raffles.

The VFW tells News 12 that they expect to host more fundraisers to assist with paying bills, like insurance, and improving security.
